via Statesman Journal: Oregon election campaigns upended by coronavirus, going digital to reach voters

Deb Patterson, Democratic candidate for Senate District 10 in Salem, said it's a "great relief" to not be starting from zero in 2020.

She ran for the same seat in 2018, during which her campaign knocked on about 24,000 doors. They got to about 1,500 this time around before they had to stop.

Patterson said that while the connection isn't as good, calling is a far more efficient way to reach people. On a good day, she said she can talk with around 60 potential voters.

"I can put anything I want on Facebook ... but social media is flooded," Patterson said. "I want to connect with people one-on-one. And no one else can do that for me."
