The Democratic primary in Senate District 10 is between a woman who has spent a decade involved in the Salem community and a man who moved into the area just last year.

Deb Patterson, an ordained minister and former health care executive, is running for the second time to represent Salem in the Oregon Senate. She was defeated by the late Sen. Jackie Winters in the 2018 general election by 8 percentage points.

Patterson has decades of experience advocating for health care access and education and currently serves on the Oregon Disabilities Commission and as chair of the Marion County Health Advisory Board.

“I’m just doing the things I would like to be involved with, related to public policy, if elected," Patterson said.
